Hunderfossen power plant exploits a head of 46 m in Hunderfossen. The 16 m high dam has ten spill gateswith a flood diversion capacity of 3000 m3/sec. The power station has an absorption capacity of 320m3/sec.

Upgraded power station
The power station is constructed inside the mountain, west of the river. The water is discharged into the river about two kilometres downstream. The power station has two Kaplan turbines with a total effect of 116 MW. In the period 2000-2002, both blade wheels were changed into wheels with a somewhat different design. The result is a two per cent increase in production.

Fish hacthery and fish ladder
At Hunderfossen, a 170 m long fish ladder has been built. Every year, the fish hatchery produces 20,000 hunder trout, which are released into the river to compensate for the spawning grounds and the fish which were lost when the power plant was established. The hunder trout may weigh more than 15 kg and be well over 1 m long when they are fully grown.
