Hafjell and Lillehammer region is an eldorado for everyone who loves winter sports. There are good ski resorts and cross country skiing trails in the region is the world's top. Lillehammer (28.000 inhabitants), considered Norway's oldest winter sports resort and host of the 1994 Winter Olympics.

Lillehammer region provides you with a combination of long-standing tradition and modern activities and services.  You will find excellent museums and galleries, Olympic venues, a large number of restaurants and wide selection of shops and accommodation. 

The Lillehammer region is also famous for its ski terrain and excellent winter sport facilities.  Nearby at the mountains of Lillehammer and Hafjell you will find the best network of cross-country ski trails in Northern Europe, comprising 350 km. The excellent ski centre is located at Hafjell, 15 minutes away by ski bus, and offers a mountain village feel with full amenities and ski in/out accommodation.

In addition, many other exciting activities for the whole family and Lillehammer town are only 15 km away for those who want "urban experiences" such as indoor climbing center, cinema or just strolling in the main street. Storgata Street in Lillehammer, with its low wooden buildings clad in winter attire, is an experience in its own right. An when the town has been adorned with Christmas decorations, you will not find a more romantic motif, not even on a Christmas card. 

Restaurants and apres ski

Whether it's location, music, beverage or atmosphere that's important, there is a bar in Hafjell and Lillehammer to fit any skier's fancy. Hafjell's on mountain restaurants are easily accessible where you can ski in for a quick snack or treat yourself with warm and tasty lunch. If you are in the ski slopes we recommend to have a lunch at Hafjell Lodge or Gaiastova which is just off the alpine trails. On weekends and especially Saturday there is a good mood on the dance floor with afterski with DJ or live music.

Indoor fun

For the very least, a visit to Playland in Hafjell or the indoor climbing hall in Lillehammer can be a nice break in the ski holidays - especially good when it's really cold outside or the few days when it's much snowfall and wind.
