Winter walking in Norway

Winter walking in Norway is ideal for those who want an active week in a magnificent winter landscape but are not tempted by our cross-country skiing tracks or alpine slopes. You need good general fitness, but at each centre the emphasis is on relatively gentle walking at a relaxed pace, with plenty of time to admire the scenery. You can walk mostly on paths and forest tracks.

Many local roads are cleared or rolled but after new snowfall it can take some time to prepare them and you have to be ready to walk on untracked snow - a little more energetic, but a wonderful experience. Sometimes the surface underfoot can be a little icy and we recommend you bring inexpensive foot grippers or purchase them at sport shops in Hafjell or Lillehammer.
