Bjørnson scenic road
By taking off from the E6 north of Lillehammer or at Vinstra (Gudbrandsdalen), RV 255 - Bjørnsonvegen is located in scenic surroundings. The stretch of road is surrounded by a lush cultural landscape, with beautiful farms at the bottom of the valley in Vestre Gausdal to open mountain plateaus in Espedalen. Historic architecture and steep fields can be found in one of Norway's most elevated rural communities in Skåbu.

Along RV 255 - Bjørnsonvegen is the poet's home of Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson (Aulestad). Bjørnson wrote, among other things. Norway's national anthem "Yes we love this country" and a number of peasant stories. Here you will find small village churches, galleries, theatre, handicrafts, potholes with concerts in the summer season, mountain farm experiences, fishing lakes, horseback riding, (horse release in Sikkilsdalen in June) boat rental, bicycle and hiking opportunities and pleasant accommodation and catering businesses rooted in local culture and food traditions.
RV 255 - Bjørnsonvegen provides an eventful detour from the E6, but also opportunities to continue further over the mountains via Jotunheimvegen, over Valdresflya and on to the Western fjords, or a day trip over Bjørnsonvegen to Espedalen and return via Peer Gyntvegen.
We welcome you to a unique experience of..." A little piece of Norway".
