Stay by Gaiastova
Hafjelltoppen is located in Øyerfjellet, which includes mountain areas between Gudbrandsdalen and Østerdalen. Total area approx. 430,000 decares, of which approx. 200,000 decares are bare mountains. Øyerfjellet is known for its plateaus, great hiking terrain and the good hunting and fishing opportunities. Village book author Tor Ile has, among other things, this explanation for the name Øyer: "A nice fjord after the whole valley bottom, and two wooded islands in the fjord, a long, narrow on the west side, and east of the middle of the fjord a now rounder island, which was landlocked, - so one can imagine the present Øyer Huguegn at the times the first people came here."
Øyerfjellet
In Øyerfjellet, there are still mountain farms that run traditional mountain farms with milk production for cows and goats. Øyerfjellet has large expanses and great hiking terrain. Altitude varies from 700 meters in the southern part of Åstdalen to 1232 meters on Eldåhøgda, which is the highest point in Øyer municipality.
About Gaiastova
Gaiastova was built for the Olympic Winter Games in Lillehammer in 1994. During the Games, Gaiastova was the residence of the press and media, a total of 2000 people from all over the world were accommodated in Hafjell-toppen's 225 cabins and 120 apartments. Gaiastova served as a service center where about 2000 people ate their meals daily. In winter, you can choose between strapping on your skis outside the door, and gliding into Hafjell's Olympic ski slopes or using 300 km of groomed cross-country trails into Øyerfjellet.
Gaiastova restaurant and après-ski
Gaiastova at Hafjelltoppen is known for its tasty if filling "skiers" lunch and après-ski, which is probably one of Norway's fiercest. In the evening, you can enjoy a good tapas or party menu with friends.
Lunch at Gaia
Gaiastova is known for its Skiers lunch - tasty and filling lunch dishes for active skiers, skiers and mountaineers. From our restaurant at the top of Hafjell you have a fantastic panoramic view of the mountains with Gudbrandsdalen and the national parks.
Tapas in Hafjell
Gaia Tapas can be found in a separate room by Peisestuen. Here you will meet the head waiter and there is table service in an informal environment. Characterized by rusticity and elegance, as a place in the mountains should be. Our intention is to create a restaurant at Hafjell where guests will be able to relax, enjoy a good meal, in cozy surroundings after a long day out in nature or a hectic day at work.
Après-ski
Welcome to one of Norway's best après-ski and the most famous nightclub in Hafjell. At Gaiastova there is room for 400 festive party people. We have DJs who ensure a great atmosphere and some weekends there is also live music. Gaiastova serves spirits and therefore has an age limit of 20 years. The opening hours for the après ski are Saturdays 15.00 - 20.00 and 23.00 - 02.00 during the winter season. In addition, we are open several days during Christmas, winter holidays and Easter.
Gaiastova is après-ski no. 1 at Hafjell and with us it is full speed and high spirits. At Hafjelltoppen you will meet cabin owners, ski tourists and locals who enjoy good music, food and drink. At Gaiastova you will find Alpestua, tapas restaurant, fireplace lounge and après-ski where you are free to choose from exciting menus for both everyday life and parties. Hafjelltoppen Apartments Gaiastova
The apartments are located in a very attractive area with a perfect location for alpine skiing and cross-country skiing in Øyerfjellet. Only 50 to 200 m to Gaiastova with restaurant, café, après-ski, grocery, ski rental and sports shop.

The apartments have 4 bedrooms with 11 beds and contain 2 bathrooms, a spacious living room with a sofa group and a balcony, a fully equipped kitchen with a dining table with a view of Hafjell and Gudbrandsdalen. The apartments have internet, TV, dishwasher, sauna and washing machine. There is parquet on all floors and thus hypoallergenic.

2– 7 BED APARTMENTS
New modern apartments centrally located in Hafjellstoppen's well-established area Gaiastova were ready for rent in December 2020. The apartments are on the second and third floors of a new building at Gaiastova. On the ground floor you will find a grocery store and a sports shop.
The apartments are modern and practical with an open floor plan throughout. Fully equipped kitchen with fridge, freezer, stove and dishwasher. Cozy dining table for shared meals. Living room equipped with cozy sofa corner, TV and large windows that let in a lot of natural light, as well as a large balcony with views of Gaiastova and good sun conditions.

Here you have modern and practical apartments for a ski holiday or weekend in Hafjell. The apartments have WIFI. Smoking and pets are not allowed. Apartments with 6 or 7 beds have a sauna. It is a short distance to groceries, ski rental and Gaiastova.
Nordic skiing
The cross-country trails right outside the apartments lead you into a huge network of cross-country trails on Øyerfjellet. Just above the apartment building is Gaiastova where you can rent ski equipment, buy lift passes, or enjoy a better meal, and with a sports shop and grocery store in the building, you have all the facilities needed for a perfect ski holiday with your family, group of friends or colleagues.
KIDS Gaia
KIDS Gaia is a new family area located on Hafjelltoppen right next to Gaiastova. This family area is free for everyone - all season. Forest has been cut down and the slope has been doubled, it has been made into a slalom trail with figure gates, a separate ski cross trail for children and a new toboggan run for those who do not have skis on their feet. There are also two barbecue stalls with hot, electric grills that everyone can use completely free of charge. If you need to warm up a little with a hot cocoa, Gaiastova is located in the immediate vicinity and is open when Hafjell Alpine Center is open. Toilets and other facilities can be found inside Gaiastova.
The entire family area at KIDS Gaia is free for everyone to use - all season. You do not need a keycard to use the lift, you just have to go through the lift gate. KIDS Gaia is thus the perfect place to try skiing for the first time, both young and old. This family area opens first in the season.
