Para World Championships

It is ready for the first Para World Championships in history in Norway. The championship will be held in Lillehammer/Hafjell 12-23 January 2022.

The World Championships are awarded by the International Paralympic Committee (IPC). The Norwegian Ski Federation in alliance with the Norwegian Sports Confederation, the Norwegian Biathlon Federation and the Norwegian Snowboard Federation will be the organizers of the first overall Para World Championships winter where there will be competitions in alpine skiing, cross-country skiing, biathlon and snowboarding in Lillehammer/Hafjell 12-23 January 2022.

The championship will be the first Winter World Championships for disabled athletes where four disciplines will be brought together. This is happening in Lillehammer and Hafjell. The athletes will compete in cross-country skiing and biathlon in Lillehammer, alpine skiing and snowboarding in Hafjell. Compared to the Paralympics, only the sports of sledge hockey and wheelchair curling are missing. 

Para Winter World Championships

The championship will be the first Winter World Championships for disabled athletes where four disciplines will be brought together. This is happening in Lillehammer and Hafjell. The athletes will compete in cross-country skiing and biathlon in Lillehammer, alpine skiing and snowboarding in Hafjell. Compared to the Paralympics, only the sports of sledge hockey and wheelchair curling are missing. 

The organizer is the Norwegian Sports Confederation in collaboration with the Ski Federation, the Biathlon Federation and the Snowboard Federation. The Para-World Championships winter will be held in January 2022. The Norwegian World Cup organizers also want to enter into an agreement with the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) to arrange the World Cup and European Cup in the World Cup exercises before 2022. For the championship, approximately 750 (athletes, companions and coaches) are expected, and the implementation will require approximately 400 volunteers. In total, this means about 40 days of competition in the Olympic facilities from 1994 in Lillehammer and Hafjell.
