World Ski Championships for juniors in Hafjell

2015 World Junior Alpine Skiing Championships
The Junior World Championships in Alpine Skiing in 2015 took place in Hafjell and Kvitfjell from 7 to 13 March. This championship was the big event of the season for young alpinists.

The event included all alpine disciplines: slalom, giant slalom, super-G, downhill, as well as team competition. Around 300 participants from about 50 different nations took part, along with support staff and families.

Hafjell has a rich history as a host arena for international alpine competitions. The ski resort was originally built for the 1994 Winter Olympics and hosted its first World Cup in 1993. The Junior World Championships were held on some of the same trails as during the Olympics, but with many modern upgrades. Hafjell has also hosted World Cup finals in 1996 and 2003, the Women's World Cup in 2006, and a number of Norwegian championships in alpine disciplines.

In 2016, Hafjell was again the center of the alpine sport when it was the arena for the alpine exercises during the Youth Olympic Games.
