Birdwatching in Øyerfjellet
Øyerfjellet includes mountain areas between Gudbrandsdalen and Østerdalen. The total area is about 430,000 acres, of which about half is bare rock. Øyerfjellet has large expanses and great hiking terrain. Altitude varies from 700 meters in the southern part of Åstdalen to 1232 meters on Eldåhøgda, which is the highest point in Øyer municipality.

Although it is a question of the mountains, the terrain is open and flat, with a good deal of marsh, ponds and small ponds. Large areas are covered by birch forests, which grow up to about 1000 meters above sea level, in some places a little higher. In southern and western areas, you will find spruce forests. In some places, there are also elements of pine.
Easy to find – stop anywhere
Øyerfjellet is an excellent area to look for typical rock species. The road takes you through beautiful mountain terrain and you can stop almost anywhere to look for birds. But on the map you will find some recommended places that are extra beneficial. There is also a large network of trails you can follow if you want to walk a little. Feel free to bring a hiking map and fishing rod as well.
