Hafjell Hotel eco-certified eco-lighthouse
Hafjell Hotel received its Eco-Lighthouse certification in the winter of 2011, after a dedicated effort and cooperation with Lillehammer Environment, Oppland County Municipality and Øyer Municipality.
Hafjell Hotel has been environmentally certified as an Eco-Lighthouse since the winter of 2011, a result of targeted efforts and cooperation with relevant local actors. Our environmental mindset is reflected through a number of measures – including minimal use of single-use items such as plastic glasses, focus on energy management and good health and safety practices for employees.
We use eco-labelled cleaning products and work actively to increase the use of organic food in our menus. Environmental responsibility is an integral part of our corporate culture, and our environmental policy is anchored at all levels, from the board to the employees. In June 2023, we were re-certified for another three years. We are also engaged in the local community and support local sports teams and associations, while our management actively participates in the local community.
Our workplace is characterized by h2ersity, with employees from different nations. We have a large staff room on the second floor above the kitchen, where we eat lunch together whenever possible. Hot food is served daily at certain times. With us, respect and equality are emphasized, and all employees have access to a digital employee handbook that is continuously updated. We hold regular gatherings, Christmas parties and meetings to ensure good communication and well-being.
Source sorting is a key part of our environmental work, and we make it easy for both guests and employees to sort waste. We work with our suppliers to ensure that our operations have as little impact on nature and the local environment as possible. Our suppliers are chosen with the environment in mind, in collaboration with NHO Procurement Chain.
We've removed disposables from our breakfast buffets and are working to reduce food waste by encouraging guests to help themselves several times in smaller portions. At the breakfast buffet you will find, among other things, self-produced honey from our beehives on the roof, as well as cured meats made from local ingredients. We also buy moose meat from hunting teams in Øyer and make our own specialties such as moose patties.
Although the public transport to Hafjell is limited, we offer seven electric car chargers to our guests, with very favorable charging prices. We greatly appreciate feedback from our guests and welcome tips on how we can become even better in our environmental work.
Welcome to Hafjell Hotel, where we combine comfort and sustainability for your ski holiday in Hafjell!
