If you don't want to do like the Birken riders and cycle the trip over the mountains, you can enjoy the same terrain from the car. Birkebeinervegen (Torevegen) runs from Sjusjøen to Messelt in Stor-Elvdal.

From Sjusjøen, it goes northeast past cabin areas and mountain pastures: Storåsen, Kroksjøen, Kuåsen, Elgåsen, Aksjøen, Storstilen and Øvre Åstbru toll station and Gammelskolla.

Within Pihl AS's area, there are a total of 120 km of roads that are open to traffic for a fee. Here there is a price system built on single trips, 3-day passes, week passes, monthly passes, season passes and annual passes.

There is a year-round toll station at Brumund Sag, an automatic-operated toll station at Bergundhaugen, as well as 2 toll stations, Elgåsen and Øvre Åstbru, which are only serviced in the summer. In winter, there is a toll station at Storåsen by Sjusjøen. This serves the parking at Storåsen and the traffic from Storåsen to Aksjøen throughout the winter. The road network that connects the various cabin and mountain farm areas is connected to Brumunddal, Moelv, Lillehammer, Øyer and Stor Elvdal.

Hunting and fishing licenses
In addition to ticket sales, the sale of hunting and fishing licenses, the toll stations provide service to road users,
those entitled to graze, cabin owners and others.

Åstdalsvegen

Here, Åstdalsvegen continues further into Øyer.

Setervegen Bergundhaugen - Nyskolla runs from Bergundhaugen through the mountain pastures Blæka, Løvlia and touches the mountain pastures Stenstilen and Storstilen where it enters Birkebeinervegen. The road also goes through the cabin areas of Løvlia (Nes Almenning), Ljøsheim and Grunnåsen. The road from Kvarstadseterlia to Storstilen is also closed in winter.
