Cross-country skiing at Mosetertoppen
We start the trip from Mosetertoppen in Hafjell - to get there we have taken the gondola up, they offer a "cross-country ticket". The cross-country track starts right behind and slightly to the left of the terminus for the gondola.
Here there are good tracks in a wide route that takes us slightly uphill for about a kilometer and a half until we enter the rest of the trail network in Øyerfjellet. There are many possibilities here, this tour proposal deals with one variant where we go via Pellestova to Nordseter and down to the city. When we reach the first marked trail junction, we turn right in the direction of Hafjelltoppen. Here there are some uphills, before we get all the way to the alpine slope we turn left and follow this varied and hilly trail into Pellestova. At Pellestova you can have a good meal! - Or you can top up some liquid. From Pellestova we choose the trail that goes west of Reinavannet. Just below Pellestova you choose the trail to the right, down a steep hill before it goes slightly uphill again and you come out on a well-groomed trail that goes east of Nevelfjell and west of Reina.
Eventually you come out on the ski slope (Reina - Nordseter) which takes you down to the right and to Nordseter. Here there is a regular bus down to Lillehammer, but you can also choose the ski trail ("Lillehammerløypa") down on the right hand side past the parking lot, down to Trondsmyra. Here you choose the ski trail straight down on the marsh and after some downhill you turn abruptly right at the marked trail junction. Here there is some downhill, some marsh and also some uphill before you come down to a new trail junction, turn left, and once again to the left and then come out onto the road at Skurvabrua. You cross the road, and drive nicely downhill down to Bikebeineren Ski Stadium, pass this, out to the right at the biathlon stadium and cross-country trail out into the forest to the right. You follow this for a short distance, turn left, cross a couple of roads before driving steeply down through the forest and coming out onto Lysgårdsjordet. The ski trip ends at Stampesletta or "Stampa". This is a ski trip that is suitable in the middle of winter with good snow conditions all the way down to the city. Total length 29 km.
ISLANDS TOURING SKI TRAILS
Øyer Turskiøyper prepares and facilitates a unique trail network that runs in beautiful high mountain surroundings connected to Hafjell, Pellestova, Hornsjøen and north to Holmsetra, Brennlia and Trolløypa into Ringebu. Great scenery and beautiful cross-country skiing tracks. We recommend taking the gondola or driving up to Gaiastova to take advantage of the great touring ski network that can be found at Hafjelltoppen and Øyerfjellet.
FLOODLIT TRAIL ON MOSETERTOPPEN
The new floodlit trail at Hafjell, Moseterløypa, opened in January and is 5.7 km long. The route has been developed in collaboration with Olympiatoppen, the result has been a great course for both active and exercisers. It is adapted for those who want a good workout and many felt the acid in the opening race on 6 January. "This is great" said Erling Jevne, who was a participant together with his three hopefuls. There was a large consensus that both the course and the arena are exciting for further events.
The trail is the country's first with LED lights and is very cheap to operate. The light will be lit from 06:00 in the morning to 23:00 in the evening throughout the winter. This will be a great addition to an already popular destination like Hafjell. The trail makes Mosetertoppen, which is the top station for the Gondola, the country's most complete and compact starting point for ski enthusiasts of all categories. The trails wind through the beautiful cabin area at Mostertoppen and provide good access to the trail network for both alpinists and cross-country skiers.
